Concerning France calling the UN for an emergency meeting about Afrin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said, “If France or any other country takes the matter to the United Nations (UN), then it means that country sides with a terrorist organization in our eyes, and they will be treated accordingly”.
“We will continue the operations”
Answering journalists’ question in Baghdad, Çavuşoğlu briefly said:
- Our operations will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized.
- On the one hand Free Syrian Army (ÖSO), on the other our hero soldiers crossed the other side of the border and started to seized the villages. We cannot halt the operations as this threat remains just close to our border. We will continue to the end, which our nation asks from us as well.
- If France or any other country takes the matter to the United Nations (UN), then it means that country sides with a terrorist organization in our eyes, and they will be treated accordingly”.
- We expect France to support us in such a situation. We don’t want them to side with the terrorist organization. France knows especially the risk posed by the People’s Protection Units (YPG) for Syria. We don’t see that a country which knows all these would take the matter to the UN.
