Turkey, Russia and Iran have issued a joint statement as to the result of Syria talks in Astana.
According to the statement read out by Kazakhstani Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Turkey, Russia and Iran will establish a trilateral mechanism to monitor and supervise truce in Syria.
Remarking that Syrian conflict cannot be resolved by militaristic means, the statement emphasized the importance of supporting United Nations-led Geneva talks and contribution of international public to the problem.
Syrian government and opposition have been invited to the summit to be held in Geneva on February 8, Abdrakhmanov stated.
Military opposition, Syrian President Bashar al Assad government, Iran, Turkey and Russia came together for the first time in an international meeting, which started in Astana yesterday (January 23), during the Syrian civil war.
Military leaders of the opposition and Assad government had refused to sit at the same table on the first day of the talks. The delegations staying in different rooms started the talks through guarantor countries. (YY/TK)
