Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have each issued statements following assassination of Andrey Karlov, the Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey.
Putin described the attack as a “provocation to disrupt good relations with Turkey and solution in Syria”.
Erdoğan said “We know that this is a provocation aimed to disrupt normalization process of Turkey-Russia relations but neither Russian nor Turkish governments will be deceived by this provocation”.
Subjected to armed attack during his speech at a drawing exhibition opening at Çağdaş Sanatlar Merkezi (Contemporary Arts Center) in Ankara, Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov had lost his life in the hospital where he was taken to for treatment. (ÇT/TK)
