Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has answered the questions on live broadcast on public channel TRT Haber (TRT News).
Yıldırım has spoken of various subjects such as Turkey-Israel agreement, apologizing to Russia, accession to the EU, relations with Egypt.
Agreement with Israel
Some important remarks from Yıldırım’s statements are as follows:
We enable the Palestinians living under embargo in limited conditions in West Bank in Gaza of Palestine to return to their normal lives to a great extent by this agreement.
Compensation to Russia
I suppose a phone meeting will take place between Mr. Putin and Mr. President tomorrow, or maybe Wednesday, or Thursday. Content of the letter is very obvious. We express our condolences. We say that we share the pain of the families of the ones who lost their lives. We express that we will pay compensation if needed. We express that these relations should return to normal from now on and that the other side finds it appropriate and approves it.
“Relations might return to normal with Egypt”
If regime change and unjust punishments imposed on Morsi and his supporters are left aside, there is no obstacle before developing economic ties with Egypt. Our businessmen, investors might go to Egypt and vice versa. By doing that, maybe a base will be established for the relations to be normalized in future. Talks might be held even at ministerial level.
“We will ask to nation as for the EU membership”
Let’s suppose we’ve completed all talks and chapters, and they said ‘ok you may come in’. We will not automatically go. We can’t go without having the approval of our nation. This is a huge decision, that is what our President says. We make all sorts of preparations and infrastructure, and then finally ask the nation. The decision is up to them. (NV/TK)
