Vice-President of the German Bundestag, Claudia Roth has interpreted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statements concerning the German parliamentarian as “plain hellraising”.
Roth has urged German Chancellor Angela Merkel to maintain a stance in protest of threatening statements issued by Turkey following the decision to adopt the 1915 Armenian Genocide Resolution.
“The Chancellor has to maintain a firm stance. What Erdoğan is doing goes against all practices, they shouldn’t be put up with”.
Roth blamed Erdoğan for causing disturbance through millions of people of Turkey origin in Germany and said, “He is trying to carry his style of strife to Germany and trying to polarize here as well with such offensives”.
Following the approval of the bill, Erdoğan had harshly criticized the MPs of Turkey origin. Erdoğan accusing the MPs of being the extensions of the “terror organization” Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and called them to “get their blood tested”, which has drawn many criticisms.
Reaction from Spokesperson Seibert
Germen Government Spokesperson, Steffen Seibert reacting against Erdoğan’s words had stated that the “German Bundestag has taken an independent decision as to the genocide and that it should be respected”.
Özdemir: Erdoğan’s words are primitive
Greens Party MP, Cem Özdemir of Turkey origin whom Erdoğan targeted without giving his name and called him to "get his blood tested", described Erdoğan’s words as “primitive” and added that the Bundestag doesn’t have to take decision based on an authoritarian leader. (HK/TK)
