Russia: Turkey-Syria Border Must Be Closed

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Maria Zakharova has emphasized the importance of closing the Turkey-Syria border in order to stop the flow of arms and militants.

“Opposition groups’ abandoning the areas under terrorists’ control in Syria is one of the most important tasks but this task is yet to be performed.

“The task of closing the Turkey-Syria border to have the flow of arms and militants stopped is just as important as this”.

Zakharova speaking in the weekly press meeting said, “The photos that appeared in media displaying Ahrar al-Sham militants defined as ‘moderate opposition’ with ISIS members have shocked us”.

“The militants in these photos are seen smiling next to the terrorists beheading their hostages. These people have nothing to do with moderateness”.

“They are trying to protect Al Nusra”

Zakharova also criticized Turkey for accusing Russia of launching air strikes on civilian facilities in Idlib province of Syria.

“Actually what they are trying to do is protecting Al Nusra. Russia is one of the countries ensuring truce in Syria. Those who have to be accused of violating truce are the terrorists”. (YY/TK)
