Politicians in Germany have reacted against Ambassador of Germany, Micheal Erdmann’s being summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs because of the song called “Erdowie, Erdowo, Erdowahn” making fun of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Opposition parties criticize the government for remaining silent about this issue.
According to the report of Deutsche Welle Türkçe, Green Party MP Claudia Roth and Left Party MP Sevim Dağdelen have reacted as follows:
Roth: “Fatal dependency” concomitant with refugee policy
“Government of Turkey is enjoying the loud silence which Federal German Government is in with respect to collapse of state of law in Turkey.
“The federal government has gotten into a ‘fatal dependency’ with the refugee policy it pursues. It has to end immediately.
“The defense agreement signed with Turkey against the refugees will cost us a lot”.
Dağdelen: An explicit stance must be taken for freedom of the press
“I am of the opinion that our basic rights in the constitution shouldn’t be victimized at the petty altar of European Union-Turkey agreement.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must take an explicit stance as to the matter.
“Erdoğan can already reach out to Germany. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must take an explicit stance to defend freedom of the press”. (EKN/TK)
