US: We respect your concerns
US Secretary of State Department John Kerry on the other hand has noted that they were very sensitive about Turkey’s concerns regarding Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)-People’s Protection Units (YPG) connection and respected these.
“Turkey shares a border with Syria and has great interests in what’s happening there. We are sensitive about its concerns regarding PKK and its connections with YPG. We have often been negotiating with them on this matter.
“We have to respect Turkey’s concerns, will respect and believe to have respected those. It is essential that a short-term solution requiring collaboration with Kurds does not lead to different problems and cause long-term troubles in the region for all of us. That’s why we are working very carefully.

“There is need for local elements”
Kerry has drawn attention to the fact that also local elements were needed to beat off ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) on the field and pointed out to taking back Kobane from ISIS as an example.
“We are negotiating with the Turks on how to make a progress following a path which respects the sensitivities of the region and not cross the lines which are important for them”. (YY/DG)
