Syrian army has cut off access roads of radical Islamist opponents in Turkey and Aleppo with the help of air support by Russia, thousands of refugees are struggling to come to border town of Kilis province in Turkey.
The United Kingdom-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Director Rami Abdurrahman has stated that the delivery roads between Turkey being taken over by the army had been a major strike for the opposition.
Abdurrahman has added; “In 72 hours the regime has won back what it had lost in three years. In case the rebels lose the last delivery road they possess, this would be the beginning of the end for Aleppo”.
Syrian army had announced earlier, that the army units had taken over the Shia villages Nubul and Zehra with the support of local militia, which had been under the control of the “jihadists” for three years.
Davutoğlu: 60,000-70,000 people moving towards Turkey
In his press statement made on the Syria Donors Conference held in London yesterday (February 4) Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has noted that the 10,000 persons in the Yamadi Camp in Southern Latakia have become obliged to flee to Turkey within the previous week and Turkey has accepted these people.
Leaving Turkey to attend the meeting today, Davutoğlu also noted that a report had been submitted to him and added; “10,000 new refugees are waiting on Turkey border due to the air attacks in Aleppo. 60,000-70,000 refugees at the camps in the South of Aleppo are moving towards Turkey”.
It has been reported that a tent has been set up around the customs area of Öncüpınar Border Gate by Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and the refugees would get registered here.
The Geneva Peace Talks which had been launched on January 29 under supervision of the United Nations had been suspended until January 25. (NV/DG)
