Like many social networks, Twitter published a Transparency Report including a period between January and June 2015. Requests have mostly increased in the first six months of 2015 since 2012. According to the report, states’ information requests from social networks have increased 52%.
412 account information requests from Turkey
According to Twitter Transparency Report, 4,363 account information requests came from worldwide in the first six months of 2015. The number was 2,871 in the previous period. Most of account information requests came from the U.S.A. The second was Japan and the third one was Turkey.
In the previous period, account information requests from Turkey were 356, so the number increased 16% in 2015. Security units and other institutions made 310 content removal requests from Twitter. 1978 of these requests were related to different twitter accounts. As a result of the requests, 125 twitter accounts were suspended while 1667 tweets were removed. (HK/BD)
