The municipality of Maltepe district on İstanbul's Asian side has held a self-defense workshop for women.
Participants were taught krav maga techniques to defend themselves from violence and attacks, the municipality said.
Due to coronavirus measures, 16 women attended the workshop in Maltepe Özgecan Aslan Park.
The municipality quoted Mayor Ali Kılıç saying, "We all have a responsibility until feminicides, abuse and every kind of violence and society becomes normal."
Maltepe Belediyesi tarafından 18 yaş üstü kadınlara, herhangi bir saldırı ya da şiddet durumu ile karşılaştıklarında kendilerini koruyabilmeleri için öz savunma eğitimi verildi.
"Striving together for a safer tomorrow, providing women with self-defense training was an important step that we could do. I hope no women will ever have to defend themselves," he added. (EMK/VK)
