Republican People’s Party (CHP) İstanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu has stated that women have been granted leave of absence at 14 CHP municipalities on March 8.
Speaking in the meeting held at İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Assembly, Kaftancoğlu said “We hope March 8 will be public holiday for all women. We’ve initiated it from İstanbul”.
CHP’s municipalities in İstanbul are Adalar (Prince Islands), Ataşehir, Avcılar, Bakırköy, Beşiktaş, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Çatalca, Kadıköy, Kartal, Maltepe, Sarıyer, Silivri, Şişli.
Of the 40 mayors in İstanbul, 39 are men and one is woman. The only woman among 40 mayors is CHP Ataşehir Mayor Hanay Handan Toprak Benli.
March 8 is public holiday for women workers at bianet as well since 2016. (BK/TK)
