The news workshop will be held as part of the “Gender Based Journalism Project” in Turkey’s eastern province of Dersim on October 14, 2017.
Carried out by International Press Service (IPS) Communication Foundation/bianet and supported by the KAOS GL, the project has been running for two years.
bianet invites local journalists from Dersim and neighboring cities and districts, faculty of communication students and rights defenders to the news workshop.
As bianet, we would like to discuss the masculine journalism practice in the media, the issues with it and the ways to deal with these issues, and share our experiences mutually in Dersim.
In line with the project, news workshops were organized in İstanbul, Mersin, Bursa, İzmir, Eskişehir, Trabzon, Diyarbakır, Akyaka and Edirne. The state of media was discussed from a gender based perspective in the workshops, which hosted representatives of organizations and platforms working on women’s and LGBTI rights. The obstacles before woman and LGBTI oriented journalism were brought to agenda.
