According to the Women's Role in Business World report prepared by the Confederation of Turkish Initiative and Business World (TÜRKONFED), as many as 1 million women quit their job for childcare, and around 112,000 women for elderly care from 2010 to 2015.
TÜRKONFED has announced the second-phase conclusions of the Women's Report in Business World.
TÜRKONFED Board Chair Tarkan Kadoğlu said, "Child and elderly care are the biggest obstacles confronting women. While women's labor participation rate increases, it is not acceptable that they move away from work life due to basic needs that must be provided by a social state".
TÜRKONFED Women's Commission in Business Life member Prof. Dr. Açık said that an employment increase can be seen in the fields of care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and elderly people, should a fund be allocated for elderly care and people with disabilities care.
Rate of quitting job after marriage decreased by 50%
The report also stated that the number of those who quit their job due to marriage and/or the request of one's husband decreased by half between 2007-2015. However, it is reported that as many as 120,000 people quit their jobs due to child or elderly care. (ÇT/TK/LN)
