Tens of women rallying in front of the Türkan Saylan Cultural Center at 6 p.m. said “we decided when and what to wear”.
In the protests the “don’t interfere in my dressing, life, shorts”, “Don't mess with my outfit, shorts, headscarf”, “everywhere is woman everywhere is resistance”, “we wear anything we wish, we walk around anywhere we want”, “long live women’s solidarity”, “women have united, resistance has grown” slogans were chanted.
The statement for press read out by Funda Özdemir briefly said:
“Decision regarding what to wear belong to us women. Indeed, we decided what to wear, when and where to walk, which public transportation to use.
“We say ‘No’ against the draft on population, which paves the way for discrimination against women.
“We are inside the life and will continue to be”.
Meldoika Music Group sang songs after the statement. (Gİ/ÇT/TK)
