Art+Feminism community’s Edit-a-thon event will be held at Women’s Library and Information Centre Foundation for the second time in İstanbul on its fourth year on March 4.
Aiming to increase women’s visibility on collective information source, Edit-a-thon will be held in 100 cities including İstanbul.
Art+Feminism’s Edit-a-thon activities take place within March 8 International Women’s Day week. Since 2014, 4,600 participants have contributed with around 5,000 articles in over 280 Art+Feminism events in five continents.
By entering and editing Wikipedia articles in “Edit-a-thon”, it is intended to both increase content on the women and drawing attention to the matter.
Women constitute only 17% of Wikipedia profiles.
The ratio of women Wikipedia editors is below 30%. (NÖ/ÇT/TK)
