The number of those signing “1,000 Women Towards Peace” campaign has exceeded 2,500.
Women and LGBTI members coming together upon call of Women for Peace Initiative had launched a campaign with the slogan “We Favor Life, not Death!” on January 18.
Images of the women writing their 100-character message “I want peace because …” on paper, dust cloth, wall, stall and taking photos of them are displayed on campaign’s website within the scope of the campaign.
Furthermore, hundreds of women have shared their images and videos including their peace messages on their social media accounts by #Barışa1000Kadın (1,000 Women Towards Peace), #barışhakikatmüzakere (peace truth negotiation).
The women to submit thousands of signatures they collected within the scope of the campaign on February 1 to Speakership of Parliament, will rally on January 31, Sunday between two ports in Kadıköy district to reiterate their demand for peace.
Peace messages from women
Some of the messages women shared are as follows:
“I want peace because I don’t want to look at news every day to see how many people died”.
“I want peace because after this war is over, we should be able to look each other’s’ face”.
“I want peace because women rally has become a light inside me for days at times of this much fear and grief. I know that peace will come some day and I will caress my sisters’ hair and do whatever I can to dress their wounds”.
“I favor peace because on the one hand there is my military officer father, and on the other my friends in the mountain… In order to be able to sing in every language spoken in this country, to not see the happiness in the children’s eyes turn into fear as their glance turns to East where I travel, peace right now!”
“I want peace because I am not afraid of living”. (ÇT/TK)
