Human rights activists Mine Nazari, Nimet Tanrıkulu, Ümit Efe, Ümit Sezer, bianet Project Advisor journalist Nadire Mater, and academics Prof. Dr. Neşe Özgen and Prof. Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı have made peace call at the parliament.
The women calling all political parties and 550 deputies for duty of stopping conflict said, “Put an end to killings, speak of peace, re-establish solution table and resume the negotiations as soon as possible”.
Mater informing bianet as to the protest expressed that they had planned to stage it at General Assembly but then did it at the stairs at opposition backstage by guidance of some MPs.
Mater stating that many MPs including those from Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) such as Pervin Buldan, Filiz Kerestecioğlu, Mithat Sancar, and Zeynep Altıok and Melike Basmacı from People’s Republican Party (CHP) supported them, noted that Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) MPs haven’t reacted at all.

We, the women who have signatures below, want to live in a free and democratic country in which equality and peace rule
Thus, we are here today to call 550 members of the Parliament, all political parties and the government for duty
Stop the killings
Lay down the arms, speak of peace
Let the negotiation table be re-established, negotiations resume right away
Cizre, Silopi, Sur, Silvan, Dargeçit, Nusaybin…Lift the blockade, end the curfews.
Hospitals cannot become headquarter
Schools cannot be headquarter
We throw our white cheesecloths in favor of life, not killing
We reiterate our call parliament for duty
