At least three children were injured, one other lost his or her life because of individual armament during bairam vacation.
On the day (August 28) when a person was released after being detained for allegedly injuring a child playing at the park, an 8-year-old child lost his or her life by his or her father’s weapon.
According to information that Umut Foundation compiled from armed incident news covered by the media from August 21-26, 46 people were killed, 84 people were injured in 68 armed incidents. Three of the 84 wounded people were children.
108 children died in six years as a result of individual armament
According to information that Umut Foundation compiled from armed incident news covered by the media, 3 thousand 494 individual armament incidents occurred in 2017, marking 28 percent increase compared to the previous year. As 2 thousand 187 people were killed in these incidents, 3 thousand 529 people were injured.
