24 of 362 passengers have lost their lives, 338 others have been injured as a result of train derailing en route on Edirne-İstanbul.
There were 362 passengers and 6 personnel on the train.
The train derailed and collapsed at around 5 p.m. near village of Sarılar.
Vice Prime Minister Recep Akdağ, Minister of Transportation, Marine Affairs and Communication Ahmet Arslan and Minister of Health Ahmet Demircan made a statement at 7 a.m.
Vice PM Akdağ announced that the search and rescue teams completed their works by 6 a.m. this morning.
Stating that the accident occurred due to landslide caused by heavy rain, Akdağ said that 24 people lost their lives, 338 people were injured and 194 of the injured were discharged after they received treatment.
Temporary gag order issued yesterday by the Radio and Television Supreme Council is lifted.
