A group of people from Alperen Movement kicked the synagogue’s door and threw stones at it in the protest staged against Israel in front of Neve Şalom Synagogue in Beyoğlu last night (July 20).
There has been a tension between Israelis and Palestinians for some time after Israeli government placed metal detectors at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Coming in front of the synagogue, Alperen Movement Provincial Chair Kürşat Mican issued a statement here:
“Our brothers and sisters cannot say their prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque. This goes against freedom of religion, belief and worship. May Zionists come to their senses and not prevent our brothers and sisters’ freedom of worship. If they obstruct our freedom of worship there, we obstruct their freedom of worship here. We can come here tomorrow as we did today. You won’t be able to inside”.
According to the Doğan News Agency, as the group began to leave the area following the statement, some people kicked the synagogue’s door and threw stones at it. (NV/TK)
