Commemoration ceremonies were held in Turkey-wide on the first year of July 15 coup attempt.
Commemoration on the bridge in İstanbul
Gathering in three points in İstanbul to attend July 15 Democracy and National Unity Commemoration Ceremony, the citizens carried out “National Unity March” towards former Bosporus Bridge, now is called “July 15 Martyrs Bridge”.
July 15 Democracy and National Unity Commemoration Ceremony was held on Anatolian Side entrance of the bridge on which 34 people including two police officers lost their lives.
Photos of those who lost their lives were projected on the giant screen on the platform installed on the area.
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Justice and Development Party (AKP) came to Çengelköy Square Deputy Chairs Hayati Yazıcı, Mustafa Ataş, Ravza Kavakçı, AKP Group Deputy Chair Mehmet Muş, İstanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş, and headed for the event area with Vice PM Numan Kurtulmuş and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
July 15 documentary was seen after İstanbul Mufti Hasan Kamil Yılmaz’s prayer in the commemoration ceremony. (NV/TK)
