Former Zaman daily writer Mümtazer Türköne and Hürriyet daily reporter Arda Akın who are in the detention list which has been issued within scope of the two different probes launched into Fethullah Gülen Community have been taken into custody.
An operation was launched yesterday (July 27) against Zaman daily’s former 47 staff including its columnists and managers within the scope of July 15 coup attempt.
Detention warrant for 47 journalists
13 former staff were taken into custody yesterday.
The names of who have been taken into custody are as follows: Zafer Özsoy, Ahmet Metin Sekizkardeş, Cuma Kaya, Murat Avcıoğlu, Osman Nuri Arslan, Şeref Yılmaz, Hüseyin Turan, Faruk Akkan, Nuriye Ural, Şahin Alpay, Ahmet Turan Alkan ve Fevzi Yazıcı, Ali Bulaç.
Zeki Önal’s house was searched yet not taken into custody due to his age and illness.
Those in the detention list are as follows:

Detention warrant for 42 more journalists
Custody order had been issued earlier on 42 journalists again within scope of the coup probe. 16 people have been taken into custody.
Arda Akın who was in this list has been taken into custody.
By July 28, the names of who have been taken into custody are as follows: Nazlı Ilıcak, Seyit Kılıç, Yakup Sağlam, Bayram Kaya, Cihan Acar, Bünyamin Köseli, Emre Soncan, Mustafa Erkan Acar, Cemal Azmi Kalyoncu, Abdullah Kılıç, Habip Güler, Mehmet Gündem, Cuma Ulus, Hanım Büşra Erdal, Hüseyin Aydın, Bülent Mumay.

According to bianet’s media survey report, 36 journalist are now in the prison.
Zaman daily has been shut down
131 media organs have been shut by “Statutory Decree Regarding Measures to be Taken Within Scope of State of Emergency and Regulation of Certain Institutes and Institutions”.
The reason of shutting down has been stated as “being related, affiliated or linked with Fethullahist Terrör Organisation (FETÖ/PYD) which has turned out to be threatening the national security". (NV/UA)
