Ankara Regional Court of Law Returns File on Demirtaş

Ankara Regional Court of Law has returned the file concerning Peoples' Democratic PArty (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş case being combined with Yasin Börü case on the ground that "it wasn't completed due process of law".

Rejecting the demand that the legal suit brought against Demirtaş due to the incident that occurred during October 6-8 Kobanê demonstrations, Ankara 2nd Heavy Penal Court sent the file to the Regional Court of Law.

The regional court stated that all signatures of the heavy penal court board were included in the file rather than only the chief judge, and returned the demand.

Yasin Börü case

16 of the 41 people who were tried concerning the killing of Yasin Börü, Ahmet Dakak, Riyat Güneş and Hasan Gökguz during the Kobanê demonstrations that were held on October 6-7 2014 in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakır were sentenced to aggravated life time imprisonment five times each.

14 people lost their lives during the protests staged on October 6-7, 2014 against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) attacks against Kobanê.

Six children were sentenced to 110 years in prison on charges of "killing with monstrous feelings or torturing to death" and "disrupting state's unity and integrity". 18 defendants were sentenced to 18 years in prison each on charge of "willful murder attempt", and six children were sentenced to 12 years in prison each on the same charge.

13 people were acquitted and the files of three defendants for whom detention warrants were issued were separated. (ÇT/NV/TK)
