Taken into custody in İstanbul on October 7 as part of an investigation launched by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF), 20 people have been released from detention.
After they had been taken into custody in house raids, the detained were reportedly taken to the İstanbul Security Directorate on Vatan Avenue.
Having given their statements at the prosecutor's office later on, seven people, including Etkin News Agency (ETHA) report Pınar Gayıp, were referred to court to be released on probation while the other 13 people were referred to court with a request for their arrest on charges of "membership of the organization" and "propagandizing for the organization."
The court has first ruled that seven people, namely Pınar Gayıp, Ela Deniz Albayrak, Gamze Toprak, Emrah Topaloğlu, Ümmühan Özdemir, Özge Doğan and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly member Helin Yılmaz shall be released on probation.
As reported by daily BirGün, the court has also ruled that the following 13 people shall be released on probation: ESP Co-Chair Şahin Tümüklü, SGDF Co-Chair Alev Özkiraz, İbrahim Gerçek, Zeynep Gerçek, Yaren Tuncer, Hüseyin İldan, Çınar Altan, Ömer Sinan, Hıdır Yılmaz, Birkan Polat, Nazlı Yöyler, Neslihan Duran, Azze Avşar.
