Releasing a statement about the March 31 General Local Elections, the Ministry of Interior has announced that two people have lost their lives. According to the ministry, while two of the deceased died before the election, two of them have lost their lives today (March 31).

In the statement of the ministry, it has been indicated that as of 3 p.m., they have been informed about 310 incidents regarding the local elections:
"62 of these incidents involve violation of the Law no. 298 on Basic Provisions of Elections and Electoral Registers; 51 of them involve taking the pictures of voting papers; 35 incidents involve threat and insult; 62 incidents involve intentional injury and battery; 15 incidents involve disturbing order while voting; 11 incidents involve offences related to electoral documents and materials; 20 incidents involve carrying weapons without authorization and 54 of these incidents are related to other offences."

'Our four citizens have lost their lives'
Indicating that "the incidents that take place in the filed are instantly watched', the Ministry of Interior has shared the following information about the deceased: "Despite all precautions that we have taken, as of 3 p.m., our four citizens have lost their lives so far as part of the 2019 General Local Elections; while two of them died before the election, two of them have lost their lives on the day of election."
The ministry has also referred to the previous local elections, stating, "In the 2014 General Local Elections, 17 of our citizens lost their lives in total; while five of them died before the election, 12 people died on the election day." (TP/SD)
