Justice And Development Party (AKP) Chair and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Deputy Minister of Justice and former AKP MP Yıldız Seferinoğlu to the Constitutional Court.
Seferioğlu will succeed Osman Alifeyyaz Aksüt, who retired on November 3, 2018, in the office.
Erdoğan previously made four appointments to the Constitutional Court between December 2014 and August 2016.
About Yıldız Seferinoğlu
Seferinoğlu has been the Deputy Minister of Justice since July 21, 2018.
He was elected as an MP in the elections on November 1, 2015.
Seferinoğlu has been in AKP Bayrampaşa district and İstanbul provincial organizations before. He also worked as a deputy chair in AKP Headquarters' Election Coordination Center.
He was born in Rize province in 1969 and graduated from İstanbul University Faculty of Law in 1991.
The Constitutional Court consists of 15 members. Three of its members are elected by the parliament, the President appoints the other 12. (AS/VK)
