Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş, who has been behind bars since November 4, 2016, answered question of bianet as well at the press conference he held on social media.
In response to bianet’s question, “#DemirtaşaSrouyorum(I ask Demirtaş) According to the İHD (Human Rights Association), 46 people died, 682 people were wounded, 323 people were arrested. It has been frequently voiced in the media that the protests started upon your call and you are responsible for the consequence. Could you evaluate the subject legally/politically?”, Demirtaş said:
“There’s not a single act of violence that started with my or HDP’s call. The acts of violence started with Erdoğan’s statement ‘Kobani is falling’ on October 7. Political responsibility belongs to the AKP. It is also the AKP which has prevented those who are responsible from coming to light. The rest is nothing but slander and verbicide”.
The questions gathered until Wednesday were conveyed to him
The questions written in Kurdish, Turkish and English on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook until June 6, Wednesday 11 p.m. were conveyed to Selahattin Demirtaş via his lawyers.
Demirtaş’s answers started to be shared on social media as of today. (EKN/ŞA/TK)
