Turkey's 13th President will be determined with the snap election to be held on June 24, 2018. If absolute majority is not constituted, then the second tour will be held on July 8, 2018.

The election developments that took place on May 21, Monday are:

İnce gets hoarse, two public meetings have been cancelled

Main opposition party Republican People’s Party (CHP) Presidential candidate Muharrem İnce has decided to cancel two public meetings in Bartın and Zonguldak for getting hoarse.

In his social media post, İnce said that “It will be made up for it in the forthcoming days”.

Barış Atay is candidate for nomination from the HDP

Artist Barış Atay announced on his Twitter account that he’s become candidate for nomination from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) on behalf of the Labor Party of Turkey (TİP).

Atay was detained  by police on May 16 following journalist Ahmet Hakan called for Atay “to be taught his lesson” in his column with respect to Atay’s social media posts. Atay was released  on the same day. (EKN/TK)
