Discussions on Bill on Key Provisions of Elections and Poll Books bearing signed by Justice and Development Party (AKP) İstanbul MP Mustafa Şentop and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Konya MP Mustafa Kalaycı have ended.
Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül answered questions of the MPs with respect to the bill. Asked whether the İYİ Party will be given treasury grants, Gül said that the parties who form a group receive grants in case it receives vote more than 3 percent in the latest general elections and added: “There is no legislation in our statute for those who form a group to be given grants”.
Whether the İYİ Party was eligible to enter the snap election to be held on June 24 was a matter of dispute until 15 MPs from the main opposition party Republican People’s Party (CHP) resigned and joined the İYİ Party. (PT/TK)
