Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar and Chief of National Intelligence Agency (MIT) Hakan Fidan went to Russia.
Akar and Fidan met with Minister of Defense of Russia Sergey Shoygu and Chief of General Staff of Russia Valery Gerasimov.
Sputnik reported that Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the meeting was constructive and expressed that recent developments in the Middle East and other actual subjects were addressed.
The statement issued by the General Staff on its website read, “Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar and Chief of the MIT Hakan Fidan went to Moscow to discuss regional security matters, recent developments in Syria and Astana/Geneva process with Chief of General Staff of Russia Valery Gerasimov on January 18, 2018”.
