Constitutional Court has rejected the appeal against the decision that the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız and Van MP Tuğba Hezer-Öztürk be relieved of their MP duties yesterday (September 7).
HDP Şırnak MP Aycan İrmez had lodged an appeal to the Constitutional Court against the decision that HDP MPs Sarıyıldız and Öztürk be relieved of their MP duties.
According to the state-run AnadoluAgency, the Constitutional Court ruled that the decision of the General Assembly of the Parliament to relieve the MPs of their MP duties was in accordance with the Constitution, the law, and the by-laws
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van MP Tuğba Hezer Öztürk and Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız were relieved of MP duties on the grounds that had not attended their parliamentary tasks since October 2016.
328 MPs voted in favor of Sarıyıldız's being relieved of MP duties and 324 MPs voted in favor of Hezer-Öztürk's being relieved of MP duties, and 20 MPs voted against.
HDP Co-Chair and Van MP Figen Yüksekdağ and HDP Diyarbkaır MP Nursel Aydoğan had been relieved of their duties at an earlier date. (BK/DG)
