Being detained in Tatvan district in Bitlis, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Bitlis MP Mizgin Irgat was released last night (July 20).
Irgat has been charged with “Promoting crime and criminal” due to a speech she delivered upon the governorship not permitting an HDP public meeting to be organized in İzmir in 2015.
Irgat was detained at around 5 p.m. and released at 7:30 p.m.
About Mizgin Irgat
Irgat was born in Tatvan in 1978. After graduating from Faculty of Law at Dicle University she started to work as a lawyer in İzmir.
She became mayor candidate for Konak district in İzmir in 2009 local elections. She stayed in prison for two years in the trial of Kurdistan Communities’ Union (KCK). She served as HDP İzmir Provincial co-Chair. (ÇT/TK)
