In reaction to Germany not granting permission to the meeting which Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ would attend Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said “This has become a systematical practice of the German deep state”.
“A country, which tries to lecture everyone on democracy, trying to prevent such events in the recent years actually is a sign of how Germany and the West are practicing double standards”.
Çavuşoğlu also mentioned that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s meeting about July 15 coup attempt was prevented as well.
“You grant permission to terror leaders but not Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. There is no way to explain it”.
“Now, especially the municipalities have started to cancel the meetings. This is no coincidence. This has become a systematical practice of the German deep state.
“You need to see us equal partners. Turkey is not a country under your command. You are not the boss of Turkey.
“If you want to work with us, you have to learn how to treat us”.
What happened?
The permission granted for the meeting in which Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ would give a speech regarding the constitutional amendment referendum this night in Gaggenau province Baden-Württemberg state of Germany was cancelled.
The reason for the cancellation was announced as the lack of capacity of the hall.
About the arrest of journalist Deniz Yücel, Bozdağ had said “It is the decision of the independent courts”.
The meeting had drawn reactions
Bozdağ’s planned visit to Germany drew reactions from various parties’ administrators as well as social media users.
Social media users launched a campaign calling for to not Bozdağ be permitted to enter Germany.
Concerning the matter, German Minister of Justice Heiko Maas said:
“The Turkish politicians to attend meetings in Germany should very well know of how freedom of the press and expression is important for us. And those who demand freedom of expression should themselves be able to ensure freedom of the press”. (YY/TK)
