Ağrı co-Mayor Sırrı Sakık from Democratic Regions Party (DBP) has been discharged from his position by the Ministry of Interior. Sakık's position has been replaced by Ağrı Governor Musa Işın.
Ağrı's other co-Mayor Mukaddes Kubilay was arrested on December 27, 2016.
Trustees have been appointed to 10 provincials, 62 districts and 9 district municipalities governed by the DBP.
Among the 11 provincial municipalities in total to whose government DBP was elected, only the Municipality of Iğdır province is left to which no trustees have been appointed yet.
About Sırrı Sakık
Sırrı Sakık was born on August 1, 1957 in Yürecik of Muş Province in eastern Turkey.
After being active in the tourism sector for long years, Sakık has later worked as a journalist for Cumhuriyet and Vatan. He is the founding member of Democracy Party (DEP) and Democratic Society Party (DTP).
In the 19th and 23th parliamentary terms, he was elected as the Muş MP and later in the 2014 local as co-mayor of Ağrı. (NV/DG)
