Charges have been pressed against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Altan Tan for five different crimes. Tan faces from 17.5 to 38.5 years in prison.
Tan was taken into custody and later released on probation as a part of the investigation run by Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecution. Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court has approved the 304-pages indictment about Tan.
Tan is being charged with "instituting and conducting an armed terrorist organization", "inciting to commit crimes", "opposing to Law on Meetings and Demonstrations", "Propagandizing for a terrorist organization", and "resisting and deterring from performing one's duties". Tan faces from 17.5 to 38.5 years in prison as well as being deprived of his rights as cited by the Turkish Criminal Code.
