Erdoğan Calls on People to Change Their Foreign Currencies to Turkish Lira or Gold

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken at Otonomi Otomotiv Merkezi (Autonomy Automotive Center) in Ankara.

Telling of the divided roads built and the stage reached in automobile industry during Justice and Development Party (AKP) governing term, Erdoğan then spoke about the course of economy.

Stating that interest rates have to be decreased, Erdoğan asked people to change their foreign currencies to Turkish Lira or gold.

“Change your foreign currencies to Turkish Lira or gold”

“Those who have money under the mattress do change their foreign currencies to Turkish Lira or gold. Let Turkish Lira, gold gain value. There is no need to add value to dollar.

“As long as we take this step, someone’s plot will be spoiled. Don’t worry, we will spoil this game”.

“There is no other way than decreasing interest rate”

“There is no other way than decreasing interest rates. Look at the world. Is interest rate high in the US, Japan, Europe? Then why is our interest rate wandering around 14, 15, 16 while it is low in them.

“We will pave the way for investors by means of low interest rate. High interest rate revives finance sector. I say this also for public banks”.
