The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım convened at Çankaya Mansion yesterday (November 10).
“We find Prime Minister’s thoughts on [new] constitution positive and reasonable”, Bahçeli said following his meeting with the PM Yıldırım.
The talk lasted for one hour. Bahçeli had met with Yıldırım at Çankaya Mansion on October 17 following his first addressing to the presidential system at his party’s group meeting on October 11. On November 23 President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had hosted Bahçeli at the Presidential Palace and explained the last version of new constitution studies to Bahçeli.
Bahçeli delivered his statements on Twitter:
“Shall we let things slide and watch the matters deepen, or as a nation we take the control and take part in with national will?”
Bahçeli added that there is no concrete consensus “yet”.
Pro-government journalist had written of Presidential system proposal
On his column, pro-government columnist from Hürriyet daily, Abdülkadir Selvi, wrote main clauses of Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) presidency draft and new constitution proposal.
Yıldırım would present to the MHP leader two proposals as to the presidential system, according to Selvi.
The first one would be a fresh new constitution involving the presidential system whereas the second would be the adapted version of the present constitution to the presidential system. (HK/TK)
