The Paris Agreement setting out a global action to avoid climate change by limiting greenhouse gas emission and limiting global warming to below 2°C in order to tackle climate change will enter into force in 30 days. Turkey still has not ratified the agreement.
The agreement adopted in the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference in December 2015 by 191 countries including Turkey was planned to enter into force when 55 countries that account for at least 55% of the global emissions have ratified the agreement.
With the European Union’s(EU) official approval of the Paris Agreement ratification, the agreement will legally enter into force on November 4, 2016.
Turkey still has not ratified the agreement. (NV/DG)
