KCK Case: Court Rules to Bring HDP Deputies to Court by Force

Diyarbakır 2nd High Criminal Court has ruled that deputies of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) would be brought to the court by force.

The group of seven deputies includes HDP Group Deputy Chairman and Diyarbakır MP Çağlar Demirel, Urfa MP Osman Baydemir, Ağrı MP Dirayet Taşdemir, Muş MP Ahmet Yıldırım, Siirt MP Besime Konca, Dersim MP Alican Önlü and Van Member of Parliament Nadir Yıldırım.

According to a report by the DİHA news agency, the court also decided to determine the address of HDP Hakkari Member of Parliament Selma Irmak and send her a subpoena.

These people are among the 192 Kurdish politicians who are being put on trial as part of the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) main case, heard in Diyarbakır.

Because they are members of Parliament, their trials had been stopped and their cases separated. The trials began again after changes in the Constitution regarding the lifting of parliamentary immunity entered into force.

When the HDP deputies failed to attend today’s hearing, the court ruled that arrangements would be made for them to be brought by force.

Also within the case, a warrant was issued for 21 people, including KCK Executive Council member Sabri Ok. (ÇT/PS)
