Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has announced that Minister of Interior Efkan Ala has resigned.
Following the meeting held between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım at 7:30 p.m., it was declared that Minister of Labor and Social Security Trabzon MP Süleyman Soylu was appointed to the post of Ala.
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Vice Chair and Bursa MP Mehmet Müezzinoğlu succeded the post of Soylu.
About Efkan Ala
Born in 1965, Efkan Ala is a Turkish politician who served as the Minister of the Interior from November 2015 to August 2016; previously he held the same post from 2013 to June 2015 despite not being a member of parliament at the time. He served as Governor of Batman from 2003 to 2004, as Governor of Diyarbakır from 2004 to 2007, and as Undersecretary to the Prime Minister from 2007 to 2013.
Ala was one of the figures who was carrying out the negotiations on behalf of the government during the resolution process.
