The relations between Turkey and Germany has become tense upon President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan being banned from calling on to the crowd holding a speech through video-conference in the “Democracy Rally Against Coup” held in Cologne province of Germany.
Charge d'affaires of Embassy of Germany in Ankara summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Charge d'affaires of Embassy of Germany to Ankara, Robert Dölger has been summoned to the Mİnistry of Foreign Affairs. According to the report of state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), Dölger has been summoned on behalf of Martin Erdmann, German Ambassador to Turkey who is out of Ankara at the moment.
Based on diplomatic sources, the AA has also reported that President Erdoğan’s speech being prohibited by the Constitutional Court of Germany was to be discussed with Dölger.

Bozdağ: We will teach them democracy eventually
Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ holding a speech regarding the issue in Mevlana Square in Konya had noted; “What about freedom of expression? Those who had been defending the freedom of expression of terrorists, those demanded decriminalisation of terrorist propaganda in Turkey, Member States of the European Union and Merkel, I am asking you all: Doesn’t the President of Turkey have freedom of speech like terrorists do?...We have nothing to learn from them. Kalın: President [Erdoğan] is curious about the real reason
Spokesperson of the Presidency İbrahim Kalın had criticized the decision of the German authorities deeming the situation as “unacceptable” and had noted that “President Erdoğan was curious about the real reason of the decision” and added; “ We hope that the German offices will make a satisfactory explanation”.
Reason of the ban is security
Federal High Administrative Court prohibiting Erdoğan’s speech at the rally had justified its decision on grounds of the safety concerns of Cologne Security Police and had argued that there was a high probability a live connection to Erdoğan on a giant screen could cause escalating tension between groups with different views.
