Following the cabinet meeting yesterday (July 11) Vice Prime Minister Kurtulmuş has made statements on the naturalization of Syrian refugees and granting German politicians access to İncirlik base.
Kurtulmuş has also answered the questions regarding Bahoz Erdal as “There are some information implying that Bahoz Erdal has been killed yet these are not confirmed information”.
The claims about Bahoz Erdal getting killed
State-run Anadolu Agency (AA) had reported that Fehman Hüseyin, an authority person in charge within PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) with the code name “Bahoz Erdal” had been killed in Syria last Saturday (July 9). Yet the People’s Defence Forces (HPG) had denied the claims.
In its report based on the statement of Halid el Hasekavi; the Spokesperson of Tel Hamis Brigade fighting against the regime in Syria; AA has announced that the Vehicle of Fehman Hüseyin blown up on July 9 and Hüseyin had thus been killed.
Yet soon after that, Med Nuçe TV holding a statement from HPG Press and Communication Center (HPG BİM) has reported that the claims that Bahoz Erdal had been killed were groundless and Erdal was still on duty.
On the other hand, Vice Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak during his visit in Elbistan had noted “ This evening, our nation will receive a present for the feast. We have received the news that, one of PKK’s most important actors, the most cruel and villain one; Bahoz Erdal has been killed in Syria thanks to God”.
Who is Bahoz Erdal
Fehman Hüseyin, also known as Bahoz Erdal or Dr. Bahoz Erdal was born in 1969 in Syria. He is one of the senior commandants of PKK. He got medical education in Damascus. After Abdullah Öcalan getting arrested, his name has often been pronounced in the senior management together with Murat Karayılan and Cemil Bayık. Between 2004-2009 he was the commandant of PKK’s armed wing HPG.
In November 2014, ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) had claimed that Bahoz Erdal had been killed in an attack in Kobane yet he had held an interview on Al-Jazeera TV after the claims.
Since October 28, 2015 Bahoz Erdal has been on the list of “most wanted terrorists” under category “red” published by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Interior. (NV/DG)
