According to the statement issued by Kremlin, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wrote to Russian Leader Vladimit Putin and apologized for shooting down the Russian jet.
Reuters announced the Kremlin's statement.
President Erdoğan said "Turkey is ready to act together with Russia with respect to crisis in the region and in the field of fighting terror", the Kremlin noted.
No statement has been made from the Presidency yet.
The jet was shot down on November 24
Russian jet was shot down by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) over "border violation" on November 24, 2015. Russia had declared that the jet didn't violate border.
Russia-Turkey relations have decayed since that day.
Erdoğan had sent another letter before
President Erdoğan had sent a letter to Russian Leader Putin, and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım had written to his counterpart Dmitry Medvedev due to "Russian Day" on June 12.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressing that Erdoğan's letter was sent by protocol and there is no need to reply to such letters. (NV/TK)
