Second clause of the legislative proposal concerning Constitutional amendment as to lifting parliamentary immunity of the MPs against whom have cases has been approved with 374 aye votes against 149 at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Council.
The first clause was approved with 373 aye votes against 138.
If the bill receives more than 367 aye votes in the second tour voting, than the bill will be approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, if it remains below 367, then the road will be paved for referendum.
“Referendum” had come out in the first round
First and second clauses of the bill were approved in the first round held on May 17, Tuesday but remained within referendum range.
First clause of the bill was approved with 350 votes. 531 MPs had attended the secret voting held in the General Assembly.
Second clause of the Constitutional amendment proposal was approved with 357 votes. 529 MPs had attended the voting.
367 aye votes aree needed to pass the bill directly, and 330 aye votes needed for referendum. (BK/TK)
