Russian Federation’s Embassy in Turkey’s capital Ankara has on Twitter responded to Justice and Development Party (AKP) MP Şamil Tayyar’s tweet “One feels like shooting down another Russian jet!”.
The Embassy on its official site shared Tayyar’s message with the note “So it was a joke…”.
"Joke"
Tayyar tweeted “One feels like shooting another Russian jet!” following the Russian team CSKA Moscow beating Fenerbahçe in Euroleague final on May 15.
Tayyar today (May 16) said his message was a “joke”.
“Russian news agency called me, public in their country has been simmering. As read under vodka’s influence, the joke became rocket! It is a joke due, joke, relax…”
“Why I would defend another wrongdoing as a person who finds shooting down the Russian jet wrong? If that’s the level, I will hereafter enter in ‘joke’”.
The Embassy first tweeted “Look how nice the comedian’s talent is going to waste!”. The Embassy removing the post then tweeted “So it was a joke…”
