Investigation has been started following Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s words “You cannot implement such a presidential system without shedding blood”.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, “A politician saying you cannot implement a presidential system without shedding blood means to betray people’s will”.
Charge of “incitement to commit crime”
Kılıçdaroğlu had spoken as follows in Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey on May 11:
“Let’s change the constitution; for what? ‘We will implement presidential system’. One person will talk, Turkey will remain silent. One person will talk, judge will rule in line with that. One person will talk, MP lists will be arranged in line with that. You cannot implement such a presidential system in this country without shedding blood”.
According to the report of the state-run Anadolu Agency, Ankara Public Prosecution has deemed the news taking place in media as denouncement and started ex officio investigation. The investigation will be carried out within the scope of “Incitement to commit crime”.
Erdoğan: Shedding blood is work of dictators
Erdoğan addressed Kılıçdaroğlu’s words in his speech in Local and National Program in Turkish Political History.
“A politician saying you cannot implement a presidential system without shedding blood means to betray people’s will and the parliament he is in. Have the countries practicing the presidential system now implemented it by shedding blood? Shedding blood is the work of dictators, murderers, and sometimes of lunatics. I am leaving this to discretion of my nation which one it is.
“This figure had earlier shown signs of political perversion, and now showing signs of political deviance”. (BK/TK)
