President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has touched upon visa exemption in the message he delivered due to the Europe Day.
Erdoğan at a mass opening ceremony he attended on May 6 had criticized the EU’s requesting Turkey to change Anti-Terror Law had said, “We go our way, you go yours”.
“Consistent foreign policy”
“The EU guaranteeing basic founding principles such as democracy, human rights, supremacy of law with financial and social development, has become a source of inspiration for many countries in the world.
“Nevertheless, conditions of the 21st century, issues being lived in our region and beyond stipulate the EU to pursue a stable and powerful foreign policy within the frame of more extensive and comprehensive vision”.
“Determinant stance against immigration”
“Establishing a firm stance against the big refugee crisis rooted in Syria, Iraq and other conflict zones is of significant importance.
“Turkey has taken responsibility against these tests on behalf of international public since day 1, and abundantly fulfilled its humanitarian obligations.
“We are pleased to see that the same good sense grows stronger and efforts started to be exerted to palliate the humanitarian dram day by day in Europe as well”.
“Cooperation will last”
“Turkey will continue its cooperation with the EU to not let the sufferings repeat and find permanent solutions to the current problems.
“Our wish is that Europe will not be an area in which strict immigration policies, discrimination against immigrants, intolerance and Islamophobia are on the rise”.
“I wish EU keeps its promises”
“We believe that EU membership, a strategic goal of Turkey, will become a source of stability and inspiration for the region as well as the successful fight against the tests in subject.
“We as Turkey believe that the EU has to establish a more determinant stand against terror.
“I wish the visa exemption on which is agreed to be put into effect will ease to some extent the weariness of Turkey caused by being kept at the EU’s door over 50 years be a positive step in the direction of keeping the promises, and accelerate the accession period”. (BK/TK)
