Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu spoke as to urban transformation in Turkey’s southeastern Sur district of Diyarbakır province, destroyed houses and bomb attack. “As we promised, we will ameliorate every stone they demolished, compensate the loss of the artisans whom they damaged”.
PM Davutoğlu and his wife, Sare Davutoğlu, Vice Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş, Minister of Labor and Social Policies Süleyman Soylu, Minister of Interior Efkan Ala, Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı, Minister of Health Mehmet Müezzinoğlu, and Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Binali Yıldırım as well have gone to Diyarbakır.
Tight security in Sur
Tight security measures were taken prior to Davutoğlu’s arrival in the city. Snipers were deployed on the historical structures and buildings situated close to Ulucami (Great Mosque) where Davutoğlu made his speech.
Curfew in five neighborhoods of the district is continuing.
Davutoğlu said the following in his speech in front of the mosque:
“May god take my life in Diyarbekir”
“Calculation of those who launched the attack yesterday was this: Ahmet from Diyarbekir will fear to come. Do we fear these rascals? We’ve come to know you, you’ve to know us. We are not afraid, we will not be afraid. If god will take this life of mine one day, here I pray, may he take it in Diyarbekir”.
“We will construct nicer ones”
“As we promised, we will ameliorate every stone they demolished, compensate the loss of the artisans whom they damaged.
“If they destroy, we will build; if they burn, we will construct nicer ones.
“They say structure here will change under the name of urban zoning, no they all will stay. They will live at nicer houses”. (AS/TK)
