Demirtaş: Cause of War in Yüksekova is not Ditches-Barricades

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair, Selahattin Demirtaş has attended Hakkari HDP Extraordinary Provincial Congress.

Demirtaş making statements here as to the curfew ongoing in Turkey’s southeastern district of Yüksekova 70 km far from province of Hakkari said, “The cause of war conducted in Yüksekova is not ditches and barricades, but it is that the olive branch offered by Kurdish people was received by Turkish people”.

According to Zeki Dara’s report from Yüksekova News, some headlines from Demirtaş are as follows:

“They didn’t know the value of HDP”

We’ve preferred democratic politics in both our Hakkari MP term, and post June 7 and November 1 elections.

HDP, which we have established as a party that is common for anyone feeling oppressed in Turkey, has become a great occasion for everyone.

The greatest support was given by predominantly Kurdish cities. This is very meaningful, but they didn’t know the value of it.

“They reiterate slogan of fascism”

[President Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan and [Prime Minister Ahmet] Davutoğlu ring in Ankara has been carrying out their violence policies as of June 7 instead of holding hand of peace and friendship lend by Kurdish people, knowing the values of HDP.

One language, one nation is the slogan of fascism. Davutoğlu and Erdoğan have been reiterating the same slogan for years.

When they say why HDP hasn’t become a party that embraces the whole Turkey, they actually say why HDP hasn’t become a fascist party like us. There is no single language and single people in this country. June 7 has started to rock fascism of one race and one language.

“Turkish people received the olive branch offered by Kurdish people”

The cause of war conducted in Yüksekova is not ditches and barricades, but it is that the olive branch offered by Kurdish people was received by Turkish people.

We say the same things as before the elections. Why aren’t we a party that embraces the whole Turkey now, while we were such a party then? Because we rocked their seats.

They all together signed Kurdish people’s death warrant because Kurdish people I exist too in Turkey and I am a political power. They have returned the war and referred it to the military.

“We were resisting when they were playing football”

AKP (the Justice and Development Party) has been ruling this country for 14 years. They have no memory, they don’t know history. They don’t know 90s, 80s.

They were playing football when we were resisting against government terrors. We have endured much harder conditions.

“They are protecting Ensar Foundation”

You AKP’s approach towards child rape incident in Karaman. They are disgracefully sustaining their protectiveness to not have AKP’s foundations harmed.

So, this mindset is governing the country. 45 children were raped, Minister of Family is in effort to protect Ensar Foundation.

Shame on you. Money, power have dehumanized you. When a child chants a slogan here, you set all security forces on the child and put him/her away by torture.
